Update from the Dogtor

First, the new Dogtor said she has always wanted a Scottie...so she's aces in our book already. Second, she said that my bump just looked like a cyst & she is not worried about. Since it's so close to my eye she just wants mum to watch it & if it changes in size or shape to bring me back. Or if it starts to bother me she can sedate me and take it off, but as long as it's no bother it's alright. Phew...mums heart started beating and she said she can breathe again.

POTP

Hey y'all - my mum would appreciate it if you could send some Power of the Paw to me... See she found this ugly red bump and now she's scared. I go to the vet tomorrow to get it checked out, and listen to this...Dr. Tina RETIRED! We didn't even know till mum called and was told yesterday was her last day. Mum is very sad about that and doesn't know what she thinks of seeing a new Dogtor. She really trusted Dr. Tina. Here's a picture of my bump...

Please excuse my eye boogies. Mum found dried blood in my beard which is what caused her to notice them bump. She's hoping and praying it's nothing serious, but she tends to jump to the worst case scenario.

Run Free, Stuart

We have no words today for our sadness at the loss of our dear furiend, Stuart.  He was our first furiend here, mum followed him before she even brought me, Edgar, home.  Please say a prayer for Stuart's peeps, for as much as we shall miss him, we know they will a thousandfold.

The Water is Hot...

So, ummm...I got into some hot water, and I think it's totally mum & the fella's fault. See, I have a habit of getting into the garbage. Mum has combatted this by shoving the garbage can into a corner and using a baby gate to keep me away. Well...after Thanksgiving, she moved it all to load the dishwasher. And the fella had not taken out the trash with all the turkey guts and gore in it. Well...what do you think happened?!

This happened. And then This:

Yep...that's the remains of a turkey carcass...on the big bed. Mum and the fella also discovered hidden bits all night long...a drumstick buried in the couch cushion. Turkey skin buried in the Christmas tree skirt. And when they went to bed...turkey. In the bed. Under the covers. Buried. Yep - I'm in pretty hot water. Add all of that to mum's freak out about me not supposing to have cooked bones for splintering and such...I'm not sure how to get back in their good graces, because mum also took me with her to pop into work today to meet her new friends there...and I, uh...I pooped on the floor. Any ideas, furiends? I'm in the dog house.

Ready For My Close Up

Mum and the fella are getting their engagement pictures taken (finally). Mum says I have to have a bath and my furs combed because I get to be in them too!!!! I think I will even be okay with all that because I have an important role to play showing off my peeps in their pictures.

Do you think this is close enough?

Maybe I Rolled in the Wrong Yard...

I went to see Dogtor Tina today. The Fella took me while Mum was at work. It was not exactly the news Mum was expecting. Yes, Dogtor Tina suspected allergies. But she said it was an allergy to... FLEAS!!!!!  I. Have. Fleas. My furiend Bentley was right-y-o. Fleas. Dogtor Tina gave the Fella stuff to put on me and some pills to take, and another batch of everything, but in cat form, for Charlie, just in case she got them too. Mum is washing all of our bedding and her & the Fella's bedding too. I can't believe I got fleas!  Hope y'all will still be my furiends - I don't think fleas can travel over the interwebs...

Miserable Monday

I will spare you the gruesome photos.  There is something in the air making me itch and scratch and chew and itch.  When mum got home (from her fabulous first day at her new job) she noticed that I had chewed myself bloody down near my tail. Before I could hightail it outta the room she was on the phone with dogtor Tina. Now I have an appointment tomorrow. The Fella is taking me. I'll likely get steroids and perhaps in antibiotic to fix me up. Drat!!!  And after she got off the phone she threw me in the tub for a "soothing" shampoo...soothing my foot!

Remembering 9/11

I know I told y'all that Mum was on a trip.  Well, she went to New York City.  On her last day there, her friend took her to the 9/11 Memorial Site.  She said that she instantly got chills, that it was as if the place itself held residual energy of the event and all of the emotions of everyone in that place - just radiating in the air.  She was also struck by the sheer number of people there paying tribute - people who spoke different languages, old people, young people, people of color, Christians, Muslims - everyone - all Americans, together.  Paying tribute and mourning together. These are some of the pictures she took.
This is one of the two reflecting pools that exist in the foot print of each of the Twin Towers.  There is water that flows down the sides to the middle and then flows down deeper inside down the middle of the pool.  Mum read that the water falls 30 feet down, and that the pools qualify as the largest water falls of their kind in the US.

Around the edge of each reflecting pool are the names of all of the victims of the attack.  The planners of the Memorial took great care in honoring families' requests of grouping people together, etc.  Mum began to cry when she saw a woman's name followed by "and her unborn child".  When it is a person's birthday, a white rose is placed in their name to honor them.  It broke Mum's heart that there were some victims that never even got to have a birthday.

This is the new One World Tower.  It stands 1,776 feet tall (not by accident).  Mum and her friend went up to the observation deck and it was very amazing.

Engine House 10 stands catty-corner from the Memorial site.  This was the fire station that was home to some of the First Responders on the scene.  This poster is on the side of Engine House 10 and is a picture of all of the First Responders that lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.

This plaque is next to the above picture on the side of Engine House 10 and is a tribute to those who died.  You can see in the pictures some of the small memorials and tokens that were left.  Mum wonders what it looks like today, and imagines that there are many more tributes left on that ledge.

When Mum found out she was going to NYC she was most excited to see the towers of light from the Memorial in the night sky.  However, her friend told her that the towers of light are only lit on the night of September 11th, that they are not on year-round.  BUT, when Mum and her friend rode the Staten Island Ferry, they looked up and the towers were lit!  Her friend later read that they were on as a test to make sure they worked properly for the Anniversary.  She was delighted, and knew she was meant to be there in that moment.

A Mixed Bag of an Update

Hi Y'all!  I know, it's been awhile!  Way back earlier in the summer I told y'all how my mum was unceremoniously dismissed from her job of 11 years.  She was stunned and hurt and her eyes leaked a lot.  Well, she since found an "in between job".  Something she said would pay the bills while she keeps looking for her "ideal" job.  Well...she found it! Her ideal job, that is.  She starts this coming Monday.  She will be assisting the Events Director at the University here in our state - planning tailgates, parties, luncheons!  She is so very excited.

So the mixed bag part...Not 3 days after she was offered her ideal job, the Fella was unceremoniously dismissed from HIS job!!  What is going on around here?!  Mum went on a trip that she had planned for months, so I got to stay home with the Fella and hang out...His eyes did not leak like mum's did when she found out, but I think he was happy for my company.  I kept him on his toes, getting my walkies in, taking me out to check pee mail, making my breakfast and dinner.  I'm just that kinda pup - willing to pitch in to help make the Fella feel good and like he has something to do.  So now, mum has her ideal job and the Fella is looking for his.  I'm glad that mum replenished my kibble supply - hopefully things won't get to thin over here...while I like to chase squirrels, I'm not so good at catching them and I don't know that I could provide for us if I needed to!

Anyways - if you could spare a good thought or a prayer for the peep and her Fella, we'd sure appreciate it.  Oh - and for Grammie and Grampy too...Grampy fell and broke his hip and isn't progressing in physical therapy anymore so he can't stay in the facility he's in, but he also can't go home just yet either.  So Grammie is very worried about where he will go and how they will afford it, since insurance won't pay for it, and her eyes are leaking nearly constantly, which in turn makes mum worry and makes her eyes leak.  I'll be lucky if I don't float away for all the leaking eyes around here!

That was all kinda serious and sober so here are some pictures from mum's trip to lighten things up:
The Reflection Pools at the 9/11 Memorial.  They are in the footprints of the original towers that were destroyed.  Mum said they were stunning and gave her chills.

This is a view of Manhattan from the Staten Island Ferry.  Mum was very excited to see the lights lit at the Memorial - they are normally only lit on September 11th each year, but that night they were doing a test run to make sure they worked, and mum got to see them.

This is mum about to head across the Brooklyn Bridge.

A Sleep Over!

Mum and the fella had to go out of town for a wedding. Mum thought very hard about taking me along, since their hotel welcomed dogs. But she wasn't sure what to do with me after they checked out but before they went home...it was much to hot to stay in the car if they didn't leave town right away. So...

I stayed with my friends, the Hungarian Viszlas - Vegas and Sam. We've been pals for years. And they have a nice yard, so I did lots of this...

And exhausted myself, so I also did lots of this...

It was all-in-all a good weekend! What do y'all think? Would you rather stay home or go stay in a hotel with your peeps?

Dog days

It's been terribly hot here. I haven't been getting any walkies in...I have been doing lots of this:

That is, lying about in front of the fan. Mum is having fits about the air conditioning bill, but it's just too hot to turn it off! She's still plugging away at finding a new job and I'm still plugging away at keeping her positive. We have some little humans that are hanging out here during the day, mum figured if she's here anyway, she might as well help some friends out and watch their little humans. It's been interesting for sure. Thankfully there has been no beard or fur pulling a. One has taken (adorably and endearingly) to calling me "Ogre", as she cannot say Edgar. She is also very adept at discreetly dropping her cheese crackers on the floor to share with me. I've become fond of her. Thanks for checking in with us!

Me and my shadow

Turns out mum is going to be my shadow lately. We are going to be spending lots of quality time together...see...she was "let go" from her j-o-b today. I'm happy to spend time with her, but she's not in a very good mood yet...could y'all keep us in your thoughts and prayers?  I hope she finds a new job before my treats have to be rationed!

A Terrible Trip

Mum got home from work and got out my seatbelt harness. She and the fella loaded me into the car and off we went. A Ride!!

Does my face tell it all? I was duped! The ride ended at Dr. Tina's office. And while I love Dr. Tina, I did not love this trip. My blood was stolen, she put some nasty stuff in my nose, and I got two pokey shots :( She gave me cookies to make up for it, but I'm still recovering and a little upset.

What Blogville is All About

There's been lotsa turmoil in Blogville lately and it makes us real sad.  Rather than getting into who said what, and choosing between our furiends, we want to remember what is good about Blogville.  Blogville makes my mum laugh on dark days, it makes her feel that there are people out there who care.  We would like to take a moment to ask your help in proving that...

A lot of you know Amber DaWeenie.  For those of you that follow her, you know that her human sissy got very sick from Lupus and has been in the hospital since February, when she almost died.  She has suffered the amputation of her leg and fingers has a long, long road to recovery.  Their insurance does cover the full cost of prostheses and rehab.  A GoFundMe account has been set up and we'd like to encourage you - if you have anything to spare, please stop by and help out.   http://www.gofundme.com/qchgec
If you can't afford to, please stop by Amber's blog and let them know you are thinking of them and sending POTP.

Because THIS, MY FURIENDS, IS WHAT BLOGVILLE IS ALL ABOUT!

POTP needed

Hello Furiends.  Could I trouble you for a little POTP?  See, I was just over at my furiend, Angus Fala's blog.  He hadn't been feeling well, and wasn't eating, lost a lot of weight that he wasn't trying to lose.  His peeps took him to the dogtor and they suspect that he has lymphoma.

That's Angus (hope he doesn't mind that I borrowed that picture from his blog).  He's a fearless Scottie, but the C-monster is very scary, I bet his peeps would appreciate it if you popped on over to his blog and wished him well.  He is seeing an oncologist next week to make a plan of action.  Thanks, everyone!

A Gift!

A little bit ago, our furiends over at Angel Pip & Ruby's had a contest! It was to name two places that Pip travelled to on his Bucket List World Tour. See, when Pip found out that he was not long for this world, he made a bucket list & took off on a world tour with his pal Puddles to visit all his furiends in Blogville and see the world. We entered the contest with a correct answer, but missed the deadline (again-a failure on the part of my assistant).  But...they were kind enough to send us a prize anyway!

We chose this magnet with Pip's picture on ot from their store
Isn't it great?  It's right there in the middle of our fridge and we think of Angel Pip and Ruby everytime we see it...and...it has great advice on it too!

Happy New Year, furiends

Mum's under the weather so we are combining our napping powers so she feels better before she and the fella leave for Texas tomorrow night. I'll be good and rested for my stay with my Hungarian furiends!
 Happy New Year, y'all!
